Youth
The future of our outdoor sports and indeed even of our planet, rests in the hands of the young people who follow us. Our private leases and our ability to do off road hike-in fly fishing trips allow us to provide our guests an intimate and unhurried pace. This relaxed atmosphere creates the perfect environment to teach, bond, and enjoy all of the aspects of the fly fishing experience.
We do several father and son, overnight trips each year on Crab Creek and look forward to meeting each one again the following year. We realize each child is different, but generally around age 10, their attention span and strength is such that learning to fly fish is possible. We can certainly get younger kids into their first fish, but in our experience it seems better accomplished with a nature outing with some fishing mixed in rather than a power fishing trip.
During the fall we have several bird hunting options for youth as well as big game. These hunts may be combined with overnight camping in wall tents and available local fishing. Our guides have ample local knowledge of the natural world around them and we all guide enough children and young adults to understand the need to keep the days light hearted and fun.
This access to private or lightly fished waters which works so well for family outings also makes for a great time for small groups of friends. An unhurried day of fishing five miles of a private spring creek is like dialing back the clock to the days of our grandfathers. All of our guiding destinations can be catered to children so explore our destinations pages or contact Double Spey Outfitters for more information.
