Eco Tours

This alternative to fly fishing is designed for our guests who posses a passion for nature beyond chasing fish.

East Central Washington has a fascinating geological history; from 12 million year old lava flows to the landscape features carved by the greatest floods ever recorded. This low elevation, arid section of the Columbia basin is known as the Channeled Scablands. Our tours are very broad based with history, geology, botany, zoology, land use practices, and environmental issues included in the tour. There are many stark but scenic views for the photographer….the spring season for wildflower enthusiasts and spring through fall for the birders.

My passion for fly fishing is quickly being rivaled by my interest in nature and history. I have now spent over a decade guiding fly fishing in this area and I have spent a vast part of that time learning the unique sagebrush and bunchgrass ecosystem of the Scablands. Our tours are 7-8 hours in length and we provide transportation and our famous sit down lunches. Pricing for groups of 1 to 3 people would be as per a full day guided fishing trip. We can certainly accommodate larger groups, but are priced on a quote only basis, as each group seems to have its individual needs. Our tours are limited to a maximum of 35 people due to our chartered bus capacity. We offer a great deal of customization in our Eco Tours based on our guests needs. We can facilitate tours from one that is conducted mostly in vehicle to a tour consisting of rugged hiking.

You owe it to yourself to experience this rugged and scenic section of the American west with Double Spey Outfitters. You will be awed by its beauty and take with you the unique story of a place you will never forget

Coeur d'Alene River Hikes

We also have the ability to take groups of 4 on hikes in the upper Coeur d'Alene River watershed under the license of Coeur d'Alene River Big Game Outfitters. The early and midsummer wildflowers and birding are second to none. As with the Channeled Scablands tours the pricing is the same as for guided fishing trips.
