Fall Hunting

Double Spey Outfitters offers our guests 5,000 acres of private ranch land to enjoy the thrill of the hunt. The ranch is located in Lincoln County, Washington and offers excellent hunting opportunities ranging from mule deer to waterfowl to mourning dove. Archery mule deer season runs through of the month of September and is a classic desert spot and stalk style of hunting. The broken topography of the scabrock often benefits the bow hunter. This hunt requires that you be in sound physical shape as we spend little time in the ground blinds and most of the day scouting from glassing point to glassing point. Mid October is rifle season and lasts for 9 days. Much less physical exertion is required as we do as much sitting as walking. While we see a buck or two every season that will break 170, patterning or closing to within rifle range of these deer is never easy. Most of the bucks we consider harvesting will be 3 ½ -4 ½ years old, scoring in the 130 inch range. Does' are permitted during the last half of the archery season and make for flavorful meals and an excellent youth hunt. All of our mule deer hunts are conducted on a one client per guide basis. Wall tent, catered camping is available on site offering a traditional experience or lodging is available nearby in the towns of Sprague or Ritzville Washington.

The first of September marks the beginning of excellent pass shooting for mourning doves. This is a relatively easy hunt with the birds coming to you. It also lends itself to a youth or group hunt. Near the middle of September, the State of Washington conducts a youth hunting weekend for upland birds and waterfowl. In addition to unwary birds, the ranch has ponds to decoy on in the morning and five miles of creek to jumpshoot in the afternoon. A great opportunity for Mom or Dad to share their child's experience without the distraction of their own quest. Late October brings the rifle deer season to a close and we begin to hunt waterfowl and pheasant. Dictated by weather conditions, the ranch can offer both upland and waterfowl combo hunts along with famed fly fishing found on Crab Creek.

In our seven years of hunting experience on the ranch we have found it to be as fine a place to hunt as it is to fish. Please contact us with your interests and we will design a hunting trip filled with excitement, friendship, and old-fashioned customer service.
