What to Bring on Your Trip
Our varied adventures and times of the year in which we operate in make it difficult to provide a standardized list of items to bring. However, a few rules do apply. Trips scheduled from early fall through early summer should include clothing designed for cold and wet conditions. A stocking cap and half finger gloves may not be the norm on a mid summer trout trip, but if we experience a cold snap you will sure be glad you have them. The summer season typically brings cool mornings and hot afternoons with high afternoon sun. Even in warm weather, long sleeve, lightweight breathable shirts provide protection from both the sun and insects. Sunscreen and insect repellent are sound ideas throughout the summer. As with all fly fishing, a brimmed hat and polarized glasses are a necessity. As a general rule, most of our trout fishing is best accomplished with 5 and 6 weight fly rods. Fall ushers in our steelhead season and 7 and 8 weight single hand rods will get the job done the as will any of the two handed spey rods. Remember, our guides provide all the necessary terminal tackle so you will not need tippet, leaders, flies, indicators or anything else that is ahead of the fly line. We also offer a complete line of rental rods and waders applicable to all of our fishing options. We'll be happy to provide you with a list of items specific to your adventure. Just let us know at the time of booking. Thanks for choosing Double Spey Outfitters.
