Spokane River Rainbow Trout
Spokane River

The Spokane River is our closest moving water to guide on. Flowing from just outside of Couer d’ Alene, downstream to the western edge of Spokane. The native Steelhead and mighty Chinook no longer grace her pools, but the non migratory Redband Rainbow still exists in the crystal clear waters of this large river.

Although the Spokane cannot boast of many trout per mile, or measure its’ wealth in miles of scenery untouched by man. It is a fishery of large Redbands, wild Brown and Cutthroat trout and the most scenic “city” river anywhere with its waterfalls and towering basalt spires. June float trips in the valley section of the river start the season. We then quickly transition to walk and wade trips which allow us more time in the river's known fish holding areas. Fishing stays consistent through the summer and into fall for fish averaging over sixteen inches in length.

Due to the rivers close proximity to town, we can offer ½ day trips to our clients based out of Coeur d’ Alene or Spokane. These trips are three to four hours in length and we provide all the terminal tackle and beverages. We also provide full day guide trips which in addition to the above include a delicious streamside lunch.

The Spokane is a large river and we have found it to be most productive when nymphing. We will often times swing a caddis pupae in the evenings to entice the fish. If you are in town on business let us show you a great time on a beautiful river without having to invest a large amount of time. If you are local, we would love to show you some of the locations and unique methods that will improve your understanding and success on this wonderful trout stream flowing through our city.
